Campaspe Athletics
The Campaspe Athletics Carnival was a stellar day for St Joseph’s, highlighted by outstanding performances across the board.
Aarav Bhatia, Harper Shiels, Nate Smith, Harry Sly, Lacey Smith and Yarran Jones were each crowned age champions, recognising their consistency and excellence throughout the day.
We also saw Harper and Harry share the Geoff Ringin overall champion students award, which goes to the best performers for the day.
Record-breaking runs added to the excitement, with Aarav Bhatia (Triple jump), Harry Sly (Hurdles), Tom Arthurson (1500m), and Benji Carfoot (800m & 1500m) smashing out some amazing results.
Perhaps most importantly, every athlete gave their all, showcasing determination and school pride.
The carnival finished with thrilling relay events, where several students selflessly competed outside their age group - a true credit to themselves.
St Joseph's retained the overall handicap, which was a great reward for effort by our team.
LMR Athletics will happen on 9 October in Bendigo, so plenty of time to work on relay baton change overs and Triple Jump take offs....
Australian Interschools Snowsports Championships

Snowboard Giant Slalom

A fantastic effort at a national level – we are so proud of you both!
A special thank you to Johanna Lyle for her coaching and expertise, guiding our students in this exciting competition.
Clay Target Shooting
After recent success at the North East Zone Shoot, six of our talented shooters represented St Joseph’s College at the State Finals last week.
Congratulations to Oli Williams, Marcus Kierl, Will Kierl, Aiden Calleja and Brodie Smolenaars, who qualified as a team, and to Harry Marshall, who qualified for the Senior Boys event.
Our team started strong, sitting even with the competition after the first round, before finishing 4th overall with a combined score of 97/150. Aiden led the way with an impressive 25/30, while Harry was outstanding, scoring 28/30 and reaching a shoot-off for bronze in the Senior Boys!
While just shy of a medal, the boys should be incredibly proud of their efforts at this level of competition.
A huge thank you to Ricky Kierl for his time, coaching and support on the day.
On Monday our highly successful shooting team travelled to another competition this time in Swan Hill to compete in the Field and Game event, the discipline the boys are much more accustomed to.
Swan Hill turned the weather on for us with perfect conditions. The team of Oli, Marcus, Will and Brodie shot consistently all day resulting in some amazing results.
Marcus equalled the top score meaning he would have to shoot off for high gun, again shooting very well resulting in him winning high gun. Will came in second place for Junior Boys another amazing result. Oli came in equal 4th and Brodie coming in 7th for Senior Boys to round out the team.
Overall Scores for the day were:
Marcus: 20/24 and 2/3 in the shoot off winning high gun
Will: 18/24 placing second in junior boys
Oli: 16/24 coming in 4th for senior boys
Brodie: 13/24 coming in 7th for senior boys
Again another outstanding performance from the boys and their hard work and dedication to their sport shone through. Special mention to Charlie from Swan Hill and Grace from Deniliquin who shot in the squad with the boys and came 1st and 2nd respectively in their categories.
Thank you to Em Kierl for coaching on the day and organising the logistics of the event.
State Netball
Incredible effort by our two netball teams who competed at the State Netball Championships in Melbourne earlier this week.
Year 8 Girls
A huge congratulations to our Year 8 girls who competed on the day in a very strong netball pool, finishing against the overall winners, Rowville.
The girls played with grit, strength and great sportsmanship across all matches: Williamstown (8–7 down), Haileybury (11–8 win), Caulfield Grammar (12–4 win), Avila (21–11 win), and Rowville (16–12 down).
A big thank you to Isabel Nevin for team managing, Asher Arnel for co-coaching, and all the family and friends who came to support.
We are so proud of the way the girls represented themselves and our school!

Intermediate Girls
What a day of netball for our Intermediate Girls!
They kicked things off with a nail-biter in Round 1, just going down to Western Heights Orange by 2 goals (17–15). But from there, they absolutely found their groove, smashing Elisabeth Murdoch College 19–5 in Round 2 and backing it up with a gutsy 16–12 win over Methodist Ladies College in Round 3.
The momentum kept rolling as they held their nerve in Round 4 to edge past Horsham Yellow 12–10, before finishing off the pool matches in style with a solid 14–9 win against Monivae College. Four wins from five games - what a run!
That set up a semi-final clash with Catherine McAuley Bendigo. The girls found themselves 7 goals down but refused to give in. They fought back with incredible grit, closing the gap to just 1 in the dying moments, before falling just short 13–12. Catherine McAuley went on to win the whole day, showing just how close St Joseph’s came to knocking off the eventual champions.
It was a massive effort all day, with plenty of skill, teamwork and heart on show. The semi-final comeback especially demonstrated just how much fight these girls have, what a team!
Best players for the day were: Kate Head, Addi Power and Lexie Howard

Bendigo Pioneers - V/Line Cup
Congratulations to our talented footballers who have been selected to play for the Bendigo Pioneers in the upcoming V/Line Cup.
The V/Line Cup is Victoria's premier under 15s championship competition for country boys and girls footballers.
For many Victorian country footballers and officials, the V/Line Cup provides a pathway to higher level talent programs such as the Coates Talent League and for some it is a step towards a career in the AFL or AFLW.
All matches will be live-streamed via the AFL Victoria Facebook page.
