Level 5 & 6 News

Mullauna Musical, Business Chat and District Athletics

Our Grade 5/6 students were thrilled to attend Mullauna Secondary College’s outstanding performance of Mamma Mia! The Musical. They were captivated by the exceptional choreography, powerful singing, expressive acting, vibrant costumes, and the evident dedication of the cast. It was a fantastic opportunity to witness the time and energy required to create such a polished and well-rehearsed production. This experience has inspired and informed our own preparations for Shrek: The Musical, coming to Mitcham Primary at the end of Term 3!

Our Grade 5/6 students were lucky to welcome Mr. Grant Satherley and his amazing daughter Gemma for an inspiring presentation, Starting a Buzziness!, in preparation for our 5/6 Market Day coming in early Term 4. They shared the story behind their thriving home-grown business, Balms of the Hive, where they carefully researched, sourced, and produced premium honey products like lip balms, natural honey, and royal jelly. The informative and entertaining session sparked excitement among students, who had many thoughtful questions about starting their own ventures. A big thank you to the Satherley’s for generously sharing their business wisdom!  On Tuesday 19th August, the grade 5/6 Mitcham students proudly represented the school at District Athletics alongside competitors from six other schools. They competed in events like the 1500m, 800m, 200m, 100m, relay, discus, shotput, and hurdles, showing determination and sportsmanship throughout. Despite a chilly morning start, the day turned bright and sunny, matching the students’ vibrant energy and team spirit. Supporting one another and upholding all the Mitcham values, their efforts were rewarded as Mitcham finished second overall for aggregate. A huge thank you to Miss Ellis for her incredible dedication and tireless training in preparing our teams!
