Preps
We finished off the term’s “On the Move” unit by designing and building ramps for our balls. Using cardboard and wooden blocks, students created their own ramp structures and tested how their balls travelled.
They then experimented with different designs, making adjustments to improve the distance their balls could roll. This hands-on activity encouraged problem-solving, creativity, and an understanding of how changes in design can affect movement.

1/2s
The Year 1/2 students have wrapped up their “Sound Studio” unit by identifying different sounds within the classroom and during a nature walk. This activity helped them develop their listening skills and an awareness of the variety of sounds in their environment.
Last week, as part of National Recycle Day, the 1/2s explored different types of waste and learned how to sort items into recycling, compost, or landfill. This hands-on activity supported their understanding of sustainability and the importance of caring for our environment. We also discussed the rubbish in the school yard and what they can do to help.
ART
Aren't these cute Easter Bunnies? Prep-3 printed the backgrounds from bubbles blown in food dye, then following a directed drawing of a rabbit, showing implied texture by drawing short straight lines.

Students in Year 3/4 were busy creating paper collages of the 11 tall ships, better known as the First Fleet.
Painted paper was torn and overlapped to create waves, students drew the hull of the ship and then according to information about each ship, created details such as how many masts, sails, figureheads etc.
Check them out in person in the Gallery.

Prep students have been learning about geometric shapes and created pictures using manipulatives. Aren't they clever?

Year 5/6 students are working very hard on 3D models of Pioneer homes using cardboard and balsa wood. They are loving our new CHOMPSAW, a great tool to cut cardboard into all sorts of shapes! These will be on display once finished... they are a work in progress!
