Grade 3-6:

Term 1, 2026 Newsletter - Week 10
As we reach the final week of Term 1, we would like to reflect on what has been a very positive and productive start to the 2026 school year. Students across all classrooms have worked hard, shown great enthusiasm for their learning and should feel proud of their achievements throughout the school Term.
Grade 3/4A
The Grade 3/4A class has successfully completed their class novel James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl. Students thoroughly enjoyed the imaginative adventure and demonstrated strong comprehension skills through class discussions and reading activities.
In Writing, students have been developing their Narrative Writing skills. They have been learning how to plan engaging stories, create interesting characters and structure their narratives with clear beginnings, problems and resolutions.
In Maths, the class has recently been learning all about Time. Students have been practising reading analogue and digital clocks, understanding time intervals and applying these skills to everyday scenarios.
Grade 5A
The Grade 5A class has finished their study of The Witches, also written by Roald Dahl. Students enjoyed analysing the characters and discussing the author’s use of descriptive language and suspense throughout the novel.
In Writing, students have continued strengthening their skills in both Narrative and Persuasive Writing. They have worked on crafting engaging story openings as well as building clear arguments supported with strong reasons.
In Maths, students have been focusing on Worded Problems and Problem Solving. They have practised identifying key information, selecting appropriate strategies and clearly explaining their mathematical thinking.
Grade 6A
The Grade 6A class completed their study of Rivet Boy by Barbara Henderson. Students also read the novel Holes by Louis Sachar, which sparked many thoughtful discussions about perseverance, friendship and justice. The class demonstrated strong comprehension skills and enjoyed analysing the themes and character development across both texts.
In Writing, students have been focusing on Persuasive Writing, learning how to develop clear viewpoints, support their arguments with evidence and use persuasive language effectively.
NAPLAN 2026
Students in Grade 3 and Grade 5 participated in the NAPLAN assessments earlier this term. We are extremely proud of the effort and focus shown by all students throughout the testing period. They approached the assessments with maturity and confidence, giving their best effort in each session. Students completed NAPLAN tests focused on Writing, Reading, Conventions of Language (Spelling, Grammar, Punctuation) and Maths.
Students handled the process very well and demonstrated positive attitudes throughout the week. We congratulate them on their hard work and resilience.
