St. Cecilia’s School Disco – Postponed Until Next Term

We regret to inform you that our much-anticipated St. Cecilia’s School Disco has been postponed until next term as a precautionary measure due to the high number of students experiencing flu symptoms over the past week. The health and safety of our students, families, and staff are our top priority, and we appreciate your understanding during this time.

We know how much our school community looks forward to this event, and we want to ensure everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the night at their best! A new date for the disco has been confirmed for Friday May 23.

A huge thank you to our incredible Parent Organisers and volunteers who have put so much effort into planning this event—we appreciate your support and flexibility.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. We look forward to a fun-filled and sparkling School Disco next term!

Managing Illness in Our School Community

From time to time, schools experience illness outbreaks that can affect students, parents, and staff across multiple year levels. During these periods, we want to reassure our families that St. Cecilia’s follows strict protocols and procedures, guided by facts and expert advice, to respond effectively and minimize the spread.

At St. Cecilia’s, we take a measured and proactive approach to managing illness within our school community. This includes regular cleaning, promoting good hygiene practices, and implementing necessary precautions to keep everyone safe.

We ask our families to support these efforts by ensuring that children who are unwell stay home, seek medical guidance, and only return to school when they have fully recovered. Any child who arrives at school unwell or returns too soon after an illness will need to be collected.

As we navigate these situations, we kindly ask our families to rely on the school's official communication rather than informal discussions on platforms such as WhatsApp or social media, where misinformation can sometimes spread. Please have confidence in the well-established processes we have in place—our priority is always the safety and wellbeing of our students, and we remain committed to making informed, responsible decisions.

We also ask our community to be mindful of privacy and confidentiality when discussing matters related to illness. Respecting the privacy of students and families ensures that our school remains a supportive and caring environment for all.

Thank You for Attending Our Fair Planning Meeting

A heartfelt thank you to those who were able to attend last week’s meeting to discuss this year’s St. Cecilia’s School Fair. It was a fantastic opportunity for both current and previous committee members to share insights, provide guidance, and build confidence for those considering getting involved.

With many of our dedicated committee members stepping down after years of incredible service, this is a great moment for new parents to come on board. The Fair is not just a fun event—it is a cornerstone of our school community, strengthening connections, celebrating our students, and raising vital funds for school improvements.

Next week, we will provide further details, including an outline of the roles within the Fair Committee, along with a short description and an expression of interest form. Our aim is to take a team approach, so if you and a couple of friends see a role that interests you, we encourage you to get involved!

Next term, we look forward to assembling our new Fair Committee and getting plans underway. Your involvement—big or small—will help ensure another successful and memorable event for our community.

Parents Association Looking for Help

The Parents Association are looking for some more volunteers to assist with a couple of key activities that take place in Term 2

Tuckshop Helpers

Each Friday in terms two and three, families have the opportunity to put in a lunch order which is then prepared by parent volunteers on Friday morning. If you are able to spare a couple of hours on Friday morning or Thursday afternoon (to help organise orders) please email:

Mothers' Day Breakfast

The Mothers' Day Breakfast is one of the best loved dates on the St Cecilia's Calendar. It is a wonderful community event that acknowledge the incredible mothers and mother figures in our children's lives.

We will be looking for lots of dads to step up to assist with this event, in particular we are looking for a couple of fathers who would be willing to help coordinate the event. The inimitable Chris Knott has run the event now for many years, and this will be his last, so before he goes we need some willing successors that he can pass his wisdom on to.
