Food Technology
During Mrs Cooper's Year 8 Food technology practical lesson yesterday, students made Cheesy Gozleme. Gozleme are crispy, golden Turkish flatbreads filled with a variety of ingredients! They look delicious, well done everyone!
Agriculture
Our Agriculture Farm is bursting with lambs - an impressive 170% lambing success so far this se! We're gearing up for a baa-rilliant opportunity when we compete in the Northern Schools Lamb Competition next year!
History
On 29 July, Year 9 students were given the opportunity to hear Dr Nancy Cushing from the University of Newcastle come and give a lecture on horses and war.
It was entitled "Only One Came Home", it was very engaging and informative. Thank you very much to Tenterfield School of Arts' Kevin Markwell for reaching out and Mr Pitkin for organising.
Biology
On 12 August, Year 11 Biology students visited the Thalgarra Environmental Centre in Armidale. Their activities included conducting transects to measure both abiotic and biotic factors, performing quadrant sampling, and utilising pitfall traps to identify a variety of grassland and woodland insects. Additionally, some adventurous students had the opportunity to interact with snakes!
Ms Parker's Year 11 Biology class is creatively mapping out the major steps in evolution and the geological time scale... yes, you guessed it... on toilet paper!

English
Mrs Little's Year 7 English class kicked off their drama unit yesterday by exploring Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. They embarked on a journey through Platform 9¾ with their train tickets and were sorted into their respective houses. Be sure to ask your student which house they belong to!
On 21 July, Mrs Little's Year 9 English class were introduced to the Shakespearean play of Macbeth through a murder Mystery activity. Students had to figure out who killed King Duncan, their motive and who helped them. They did this through investigating characters (played by students), location information and clues given throughout the lesson.
Mrs Little’s year 8 English class started their drama unit with The Crimes of Grindelwald yesterday. They received their Hogwarts letters, train and bus tickets and were sorted into their houses.
Science
Students in Mr Clay's Year 9 Science class are diving into a choc chip mining activity in Science. Armed with basic tools including a skewer and a wooden fork, they extracted choc chips from cookies that are made up of 40% chocolate. The goal was to discover whether it's viable to mine this valuable resource (choc chips) from its host material (the choc chip cookie).
Mr Winning and Mr Clay's Year 7 Science students launching water rockets. This hands-on activity illustrates key physics concepts such as Newton’s Laws, force, motion, and energy.
Students constructed rockets using bottles, experimented with design variations, and adjusted water and air levels, all while documenting their flight results. What a great activity!
Mr Clay's Year 7 students wrapped up T2 Week 9 with hands-on experiments exploring electrostatic charges. Using balloons, perspex rods, ebonite rods, flannel, and nylon cloth, they observed how positive and negative charges interact with each other. Lots of excitement (and some flying hair!) as students discovered the magic behind static electricity. Great job, Year 7!
