Principals Report

Welcome to our Week 5 Term 3 Newsletter! It’s hard to believe we’re already halfway through the term.

Firstly, I would like to congratulate our students for a very settled and positive term so far. As I mentioned at assembly, our attendance continues to improve, and we have seen a noticeable increase in positive behaviour alongside a decrease in negative entries. Well done to everyone for their efforts!

A reminder that, at the end of this term, we will once again offer a fantastic rewards excursion to Wet’n’Wild for students who maintain excellent attendance and behaviour. We will have more spots available this time, and again, the excursion will be heavily subsidised by the school.

Congratulations are also in order for our Year 9 and Year 8 students for their excellent NAPLAN and Check-in results. Our Year 9 Numeracy and Reading outcomes were above the state average—particularly strong in the Check-in assessments, where they were well above. Similarly, our Year 8 Numeracy Check-in results were above the state average, while our Reading results were at state average. For a small rural school, these results are incredible and reflect the dedication of both staff and students.

This edition also features our Ekka excursion. Once again, we had an extremely successful trip with some excellent results. More importantly, our students represented the school with pride and were a credit to our community. Thank you to Mr Jones, Ms Parker, Brett, and all members of the community who supported our participation.

Finally, next week (Tuesday September 1st) we have our Year 5 and 6 Information Night. This is the first time we have offered this event to Year 5 families as we understand many are already thinking about high school. We encourage all families to attend. Our band will perform and there will be many other displays and presentations about starting high school. We have really enjoyed getting to know the Year 6 students through transition activities.
