Child Safety Standard 10: Reviewing and Improving Our Practices
Keeping young people safe requires more than having strong policies in place. It requires us to regularly ask whether those policies and practices are working effectively and what we can do better.
Child Safety Standard 10 focuses on the ongoing review and improvement of child safety practices. At St Peter’s College, our child safety and wellbeing policies, procedures and practices are reviewed and evaluated following any significant child safety incident and, at a minimum, every two years. This reflects the requirements of Ministerial Order 1359.
Importantly, review is about improvement. It provides an opportunity to consider what has occurred, identify any gaps or emerging risks, and strengthen the policies and practices that support the safety and wellbeing of our students.
During 2026, St Peter’s has undertaken further work reviewing its Child Safe Standards arrangements, including updating relevant procedures and providing evidence of its child safety practices as part of the College’s compliance review process.
Child safety is never something we regard as simply “completed”. It requires vigilance, reflection and continuous improvement.
At St Peter’s, we remain committed to ensuring that our practices continue to provide a safe, respectful and supportive environment in which every young person can flourish.
