General News

Dear Parents and Carers of Year10,11 and 12 students,
St Peter’s College is excited to offer a meaningful opportunity for our Clyde North Campus families to host visiting Japanese students from Thursday the 11th of March 2027 through to Tuesday the 16th of March inclusive (6 nights). Students will leave their homestay on the morning of the 17th. We are seeking 16 welcoming families to take part in this enriching homestay experience.
Hosting a Japanese exchange student is a chance to open your home and heart to another culture. The visiting students will shadow St Peter's students during their day-to-day routines at school, as well as attend two full day tours to see parts of our beautiful coast and countryside. When the students are not at school, you’ll share your family’s daily life while learning about Japanese traditions, language, and customs. Many families find this experience leads to lasting friendships, personal growth, and a deeper appreciation of global citizenship.
All the visiting Japanese students have been studying English, so routine communication, should not be a problem. You do not need to be currently studying Japanese to host – just a willingness to share and connect.
To support your generous involvement, each host family will receive a $300 stipend to assist with the cost of hosting.
If your family is interested, please send an expression of interest including your child’s name to Mr Paul Everitt, Exchange Coordinator, at peveritt@stpeters.vic.edu.au as soon as possible.
Let’s work together to make our college a place of cultural exchange and lasting memories. I want to thank you personally for considering this special opportunity and look forward to your involvement.
Mr David Hansen
Principal.
Outstanding Chess Achievement for Kyle Monleon
Congratulations to Year 12 student Kyle Monleon on an outstanding achievement in chess at the Victorian Secondary Open Grand Final.
Kyle earned his place at the State Grand Final after performing strongly at both the local SIS Chess competition and the subsequent inter-school regional tournament. Reaching the Grand Final placed Kyle among the top 4% of Victorian secondary students who participated in Secondary Open chess events this year.
Competing against 164 of the State’s leading school chess players, Kyle finished an impressive 45th overall, placing him comfortably within the top third of competitors at this elite level.
This is a wonderful achievement, particularly as Kyle completes his final year of school competition at St Peter’s College. Those who know Kyle will also recognise that his success is matched by the humility and kindness with which he represents himself and our College.
Congratulations, Kyle, on a terrific result and on your contribution to chess at St Peter’s over the years. Ms Mady Allan is already lamenting your graduation and is asking “How is Glowrey House going to win House Chess next year?”

The survey takes about 20 minutes, and all answers are anonymous and confidential.
