2025 Storm 9's U14 NRL Tag State Finals
On Tuesday, 25th November, our Year 8 EXCEL Sport students travelled to Seabrook Reserve in Broadmeadows to compete in the Storm 9s U14 NRL Tag State Finals. Both the girls’ and boys’ teams had earned their place in the finals after dominating their pool rounds, finishing first and second respectively.
The boys faced Clyde Secondary College in a tightly contested semi-final, a team they had defeated earlier in the day. Despite a strong performance, a couple of late errors proved costly and they finished the day in equal third place.
The girls progressed to the grand final, taking on Craigieburn Secondary College for the state title. With just minutes remaining, scores were locked, but back-to-back scoring runs from Lily and Frankie secured a 4–2 victory and crowned the Year 8 EXCEL Sport girls the 2025 Storm 9’s U14 NRL Tag State Champions. An outstanding result against talented opposition who specialise in the sport.
A big thank you to Ms Brand for her support on the day and congratulations to all students for embracing the challenge of learning a new sport and achieving such an impressive state-level outcome.
