Library & Resource Centre Report

WE READ BOOKS.

Our inimitable Mrs Holly Herrmann has once again provided for us all a surprising and wonderful Library display.

Various staff members were asked to provide a childhood picture, along with the books they enjoyed as a young person.  Mrs Herrmann then used her artistic skills to make entertaining and informative A3 posters.  To keep students and staff guessing these first pictures were on display for over one week by themselves.  It was a joy to observe the students trying to work out the subjects of the pictures. This week, the second part of the display was finally revealed.

Mrs Herrmann asked the staff to re-created the childhood poses, but now as adults, once again showing our favourite books of the recent past and present times.

One can now work out the identity of the childhood pictures as the pair is up on the opposite side.

The WE READ BOOKS display conveys one of our most important Library themes, “just keep reading”.   We acknowledge the never-ending importance and relevance of books and literature in our lives and all the benefits therein.   How wonderful to have so many avid readers on staff.  We know there are others so one day we may have to do Part 2?

Thank you Mrs Herrmann for a truly excellent display, one that has brought oodles of unexpected joy to our school community.

Uniting Church Lunch

On Tuesday, 27th May, Mr Phil Wheaton accompanied four Year 9 students to our Uniting Church catered lunch.

Thank you to Mrs Pittman in the Boarder’s Dining Room for preparing such a ‘comfort food’ feast which was enjoyed very much by all accounts.  Twenty people were fed on the day.

The students returned with such great reports of their experience that we already have a cohort of Year 9 girls and a staff member who have volunteered for the last lunch of the term on June 17th.   Heartfelt thanks to you all.
