Examination Period and the Alternate Exam Room
The examination period is fast approaching. Students should be starting to think about exams, clarifying topics they will be examined on with their teachers and beginning to revise for them.
The Alternative Exam Room (AER) will be in operation again. The AER is a room where students from Years 7-10 who require additional support can sit and complete their exams. The AER is supervised by Learning Support Officers and is a more relaxed atmosphere – a smaller room, less students and more support in the areas that students need.
Applications will be via Google Form; students apply to sit in the AER. Numbers are limited and applications will be reviewed and confirmed by email, if they are successful or not.
It is not a suitable space for students who like to work in a quiet environment, the classroom is better for those who want a quiet space. The AER has a lot going on with explaining and rewording of questions for students who need that level of support.
If students apply for, and are successful in gaining a place in the Alternate Exam Room, they will sit all their exams in there, irrespective of whether they are sitting modified exams for all subjects or not. Year 10 students completing a Unit 1 VCE subject will be encouraged to sit in the exam room with their cohort, in preparation for Unit 3 and 4 exams, where minimal accommodations can be made.
Any queries, please contact your Year Level Coordinator or Caroline Coggins.
