Callum Kelf - Diabetes's Awareness
Our St. Joseph’s School, Cobram community came together in a truly meaningful way to raise awareness for Type 1 Diabetes, inspired by our courageous Year 6 student, Callum Kelf.
On Friday, Callum stood before the entire school and shared his personal journey with Type 1 Diabetes. It was a powerful and heartfelt moment that left a lasting impression on all of us.
We are incredibly proud of Callum, not only for his bravery in speaking publicly, but for stepping far outside his comfort zone to help others understand how this condition affects his life and the lives of his family and what signs to watch out for.
Throughout the week, Callum and his classmates ran a “Guess the Jelly Bean Jar” competition, which was a huge hit with students. Thanks to their efforts and the generosity of our school community, we raised an impressive $243.05 for Breakthrough, an organisation dedicated to research and support for those living with Type 1 Diabetes.
We also saw a sea of blue across the school on Friday as students wore a touch of blue to show their support. It was a beautiful symbol of solidarity and compassion.
Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, and supported this important cause. We are so proud of Callum and grateful to be part of a community that rallies together to make a difference.
What a vibrant and joyful day we had at our annual Colour Fun Run! The smiles, laughter, and bursts of colour across the school grounds were a true celebration of community and fun.
A heartfelt thank you to all the families who supported the event, whether by volunteering, helping with organisation, or ensuring students came prepared with white t-shirts and glasses. Your involvement helped make the day run smoothly and safely, and we are so grateful.
While we usually run this event as a fundraiser, this year we wanted to reward our students for their hard work and positive efforts throughout the term by hosting the Colour Fun Run without the added pressure of fundraising. Judging by the look on everyone’s faces—teachers included—it was absolutely worth it!
This event continues to be a favourite among our students, and it’s easy to see why. The energy, excitement, and sense of togetherness it brings is something truly special.
Thank you once again for helping us create such a memorable day for our students.
