Vision for Learning

At Lumen Christi College, our Vision for Learning, ‘Discover Together’, guides every aspect of teaching and learning. We have deepened our commitment to the pedagogical pillars of Connect, Explore and Empower, ensuring these principles are lived experiences in every classroom.

This year, we are continuing our strategic focus on evidence‑informed best practice in teaching and learning. Teachers and Education Assistants have four key focus areas:

1. PLANNING – All lessons are supported by high-quality, well-sequenced planning documents that follow our instructional model.

2. CLASSROOM ROUTINES – Students begin and end lessons with consistent routines to support smooth transitions between learning spaces and increase engagement in learning.

3. PEDAGOGY FUNDAMENTALS – Learning Intentions are clearly shared and referred to throughout the lesson to focus the learning. A range of questioning techniques are used to check the understanding of all students, and staff actively circulate the classroom to support learning.

4. LEARNING CULTURE – Staff are committed to continuous professional growth, grounded in evidence and focused on strengthening classroom practice.

We are all learners, and we encourage students to reflect regularly on their Learning Behaviours in every lesson. I look forward to visiting classrooms and seeing the impact of this shared commitment in action, and to witnessing our Vision for Learning, ‘Discover Together’, continue to flourish as we work collaboratively to explore possibilities and empower all to shine.
