Physical Education

Cassie Kingston

What an Incredible Start to Term 2!

Thank you all for such a warm welcome to Black Rock Primary School. I’m really excited to continue teaching Physical Education throughout Terms 2 and 3.

In the Classroom

What have we been learning in Physical Education?

Foundation: Over the past month, Foundation students have been developing their striking skills, focusing on the forehand strike with various types of racquets. In the coming weeks, they will be learning how to bounce a ball effectively and dribble a basketball.

Years 1 & 2: During May, Year 1 and 2 students worked on refining their forehand and two-handed side-arm striking techniques (such as a baseball swing). They have now moved on to perfecting their bouncing and dribbling skills.

Years 3 – 6: Our middle and senior students have been focusing on net and wall games. They’ve played modified versions of Newcomb ball and Volleyball, demonstrating excellent teamwork and sportsmanship throughout their Term Two assessments. In the coming weeks, they will be developing their Hot Shots tennis skills.

Cross Country

A Big Term for Cross Country Events!

House Cross Country: It was fantastic to see the entire school out on the oval, running, cheering for their houses, and enjoying physical activity. The enthusiasm and dedication across all year levels were inspiring. Everyone who participated and supported their house should be very proud of their efforts. A huge thank you to the teachers and parents who helped make the day run smoothly.

After tallying all the points, Blue House emerged victorious—well done, Blue House!
