We were blown away by all the entries and want to say how proud we are of every student who gave it a go and shared their amazing art skills. We love the passion and creativity that our students show every day, so well done to all who spent time creating a piece.
We were so excited to receive the news that three students got selected as finalists.
These students were Ted S from 2B, Christina W from 5/6A and Elsa H from 5/6A. Last Saturday the ceremony took place and we are thrilled to say that Ted was awarded second place for his piece and Elsa was also awarded second place. We couldn't be more proud!
We will recognise these students at assembly on Monday and share the news with all our community.
We have had a busy start to our term, focussing on our Construction unit, which included creating some spectacular Clay projects.
We started Term Two off by creating a special take home gift that the students gave to a special female in their lives. They loved creating something special and meaningful to share with their person and it was a love filled few weeks! Our take home gifts included portraits using various mediums, 3D watercolour flowers, flower collages and many more!
Our BRPS artists then moved onto creating their Clay piece, always a strong highlight for many students. Maybe not so much for our cleaners in the aftermath!
The Foundation students showed their creativity and skills, as they made wonderful pinch pots with lids and added beads for more detail. We look forward to seeing them burst with colour soon when they are painted.
The Year Ones produced some fantastic ornaments with beads for further detail. We saw some amazing hearts, stars, circles and some more freestyle shapes. We look forward to seeing them being painted and attaching ribbon so they can be hung with pride!
The Year Twos faced their two-part project, with enthusiasm and dedication. We tasked them with creating a birds nest. Each student created a pinch pot for the nest and then used their own creative flair and ideas about how they make their bird for the nest. Some included just one bird, others added baby birds or eggs for extra detail. Feathers and beads for used for that extra wow factor. They looked amazing!
The Year Threes were given a challenge for their Clay this year and they sure did step up to the plate. They created coil hearts, which required various skills they have acquired over the last 4 years of Clay at BRPS. The joining of their clay coils proved vital in this project and our wonderful Year Threes proved they have the skills and patience. They should be proud of their results.
The Year Fours created a mosaic pot, again each student adding their own unique ideas, some adding beads or patterns using clay tools and making their pots a unique shape. We know these will look amazing when they are painted and decorated.
The Year Five/Six cohort were given some freedom this year and came up with their own idea from scratch. They designed their piece on paper with details added and we loved seeing all the amazing ideas they produced. They were able to set themselves a challenge and show all the skills they have learnt over the years of Clay.
For the remainder of the Term, the students will be continuing on their Construction projects and painting their Clay piece.
Some of these projects include; cardboard animals, 3D animal wall hangings, paper mache bowls, 3D faces and many more!
We can't wait to see our wonderful Clay pieces being painted and shared with families. Our Construction projects are being worked on currently so we look forward to sharing the results in the next newsletter!
