Attendance

Replying to text messages for absences
If your child is absent, as parents/carers, you are required to provide an explanation within seven days of the absence. The easiest way to do this is to reply to the text message sent by the school. A brief explanation about why your child is absent is all that is needed.
Your text message is sent to the School's Attendance Officer, who updates our system.
Why is this important?
Children should attend school on each day that the school is open unless they are sick or the Principal approves leave for another reason. Education for your child is important, and regular attendance at school is essential for your child to achieve their educational best and increase their career and life options.
It allows you, the parent/carer, to communicate with the school about your child's absence. It alerts you to any issues and allows us to learn if a student may need extra support.
In addition, all absences must be printed on a student's report. These reports are often used to apply for a job - the number of unexplained absences on a student's report may make an employer reconsider offering them a job.
