Key information and upcoming events for our SMC community.

Winter Woolies Week

On Wednesday 25 June, wear your warmest winter woolies, cosiest pyjamas and snuggliest oodies to school for our K–12 Pyjama and Winter Woolies Day.  Gold coin donations will be collected with all funds going to the Vinnies Winter Appeal.

Winter woolies needed

Throughout next week, we will be collecting donations for the St Vincent de Paul Society to distribute to those most in need. You can help by donating clean, warm clothing such as jackets, jumpers, beanies, scarves and gloves. Please check your wardrobes, and if you have any suitable items, they can be placed in the donation bins outside the Year 11/12 common room. Thank you for your support and generosity.

Clothing Swap

Year 10 students are on a mission to make sustainable fashion a trend at school! They will be hosting a Clothing Swap for Senior Students on Tuesday 1 July – the final Tuesday of Term 2.

In the lead up to the swap, students are encouraged to bring in clean, gently used clothing items they no longer wear or love. Items will be collected during PC time over the next two weeks.

For each item donated, students will receive a token to ‘purchase’ another item at the swap. Alternatively, students can participate on the day by donating a gold coin.

This initiative follows on from the Year 10 Political Theatre project on Fast Fashion, created in collaboration with the Sustainability Learning Centre.

Start cleaning out your cupboards! With approximately 227,000 tonnes of clothing ending up in landfill each year, this is a great opportunity to give your clothes a second life and help reduce textile waste.
