Before and after school pick up arrangements
We kindly ask that when dropping off or collecting your daughter before or after school, you please avoid taking liberties with parking. We understand the challenges and restraints of our city-based school and the limited parking available, but we must all respect the designated areas to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow, especially for no standing and bus zones.
Please do not park across the driveway in Brisbane Street (no standing zone) before or after school, thus blocking access for pedestrians and, or an emergency vehicle.
Please do not park in the Presbytery car park at the top of Patrick Street (just before Barrack Street). This car park is for St Mary's College staff, who pay for their parking. Please do not park on the top tennis court, as this car park is designated for St Virgil's College staff only.
We have been advised that there will be an increased Police and Parking Inspector presence on Brisbane, Harrington, Patrick and Barrick streets in the coming weeks.
Advisory Council
The Advisory Council met this week to discuss key areas, including finance updates, strategic planning progress, enrolment trends, and the development of the Annual Community Report. The meeting also covered planning and preparations for the upcoming Winter Festival. Council members will review current financial performance and projections, evaluate strategic initiatives, and consider enrolment data to inform future decisions. The Winter Festival agenda will focus on activities, logistics, and community involvement to ensure a successful and inclusive event.
Uniform
A reminder to all students about uniform expectations: Blazers must be worn to and from the College each day. On designated sport days, the full sports uniform is required—no mixing with regular uniform items. Hoodies or any other non-uniform garments must not be worn visibly at any time. Maintaining a consistent and professional appearance reflects pride in our College and supports a positive community image. We appreciate your cooperation in upholding our uniform standards.
Absentee notification
A reminder to notify the school of any student absences by 9.00am. You can do this in one of three ways: via the College website's Report an Absence page, by phone on (03) 6108 2560, or by email to stmarys@smc.tas.edu.au. Timely notification helps us ensure student safety and accurate attendance records. Thank you for your cooperation and support.
