Year 11
We started term 4 off running with our Year 11 Formal followed by the year 11 Wellbeing Day in the first few weeks. The Year 11 Wellbeing Day was enjoyed by all involved. We started the day off meeting at The District Docklands and were able to take a break from the rigours of our first year in VCE. Students were able to make use of the facilities including shopping, ice skating and a variety of restaurants and take away options.
The 2024 Formal was a very glamorous and enjoyable event, held at the Grand on Princes in Mulgrave. Students enjoyed a three course meal, danced the night away and were awarded with prizes for best dressed, best dancer and King and Queen. A fabulous night enjoyed by students and staff as well.
We are now looking forward to the Year 11 Celebration Day occurring on the 14/11/2024 at Melbourne Central. We will be celebrating the year 11 cohorts outstanding efforts this year with a chance to go shopping, watch a movie and have lunch together. Students will be selecting a movie to see as a cohort with some movie snacks provided. It will be a great opportunity to meet as a cohort before moving into step up and then year 12!
We will be acknowledging the Year 11 VCE General’s success at our end of term celebration assembly on Wednesday 13/11/2024. Students with the top attendance, growth and achievement this year will be recognised and rewarded with prizes and our traditional end of term celebration lunch.
Year 12
Our Year 12 cohort have had a very busy end to October. All classes have now finished for both VCE VM and VCE General. The Year 12 students had an amazing end to their educational journey which culminated in a week of celebration. On the 21st of October students commenced their week with a lunch time celebration. This fun afternoon included a lunch of pizza, music and an ice-cream from a local business called “Ice Screams”. The afternoon was warm and sunny, and the line was long but the smiles abounded as students ordered gelato, and ice cream covered in chocolate, sprinkles and various condiments. Students ended their first day of celebration with an assembly to discuss further events happening and upcoming exams.
On Tuesday the 22nd of October Year 12 students and their teachers were up early to catch a bus to Gumbuya world. The day was warm, perfect for riding waterslides, visiting the animal park and laughing with friends on some of the scarier theme park rides. Fun was definitely had by all attending.
On Wednesday 23rd of October, VCE General had their final classes. They finished their formal classes with a movie theme dress up day.
On Thursday 24th of October was the final day of thirteen years of schooling, it began with a breakfast with their teachers and leaders, followed by a Guard of Honor. In home groups all Year 12 students made their way from the Yellow Building across all school campuses to the cheers of all members of the school community, including students and staff. It was an overwhelming and emotional experience for students and staff to see the entire school community come out for this event. The Guard of Honor concluded with cupcakes presented by our Year 7 students and a final assembly, where students reminisced about their school experience, laughed at staff awards and videos, heard from school leaders and were entertained by student performers. Finally, students were dismissed by their Year 12 leaders for the last time.
VCE students undertaking a Units 3 and 4 subject have now commenced the VCAA official examination period. We wish them all the best of luck. Our next whole school event will be Valedictory on the 27th of November to be held at Bunjil Place, Narre Warren. We look forward to celebrating the graduation of the class of 2024 with all that can attend.
