Positive Climate for Learning

STRIVE 2024:

2024 has been an incredibly busy year for the students of CESC. This year we rolled out the STRIVE model throughout the school with the goal of improving our learners' understanding of their own character strengths as well as their social emotional capabilities.

At the start of the roll out of the Positive Education Model (STRIVE), we conducted a survey to determine our learners' attitudes surrounding failure, overall outlook in life, and their sense of community. From the beginning of Term 3, our students participated in weekly STRIVE mini lessons that taught our students about the different pillars of STRIVE (Strength, Thankfulness, Relationships, Inspiration, Vision and Emotion). At the end of Term 3, this survey was repeated again and we noticed some extremely positive growth!

Some of the incredible data that has been collected include:

  • An average of 10% of our Middle School Cohort (Year 9 and 10) became less fearful of failure and are more readily able to take on new challenges.
  • There has been a 10% increase of students in Year 8 who love themselves.
  • Across the college, there has been an average increase of 4% of students who feel that they are in control of their emotions.

We really appreciate the work that our teachers and learners have put into the STRIVE Positive Education Model. We hope that the work that is completed becomes a toolkit to enable our learners to lead positive lives.
