What a successful term of FwF!

Our volunteer-led initiative at RNPS, Flourish with Fluency (FwF), has once again been enthusiastically driven by a key group of dedicated volunteers throughout Term 3. Our team has kept students well supported in their reading and numeracy fluency skills, contributing to some wonderful improvements, by providing additional opportunities for practice and adult feedback.

Here is a small snapshot of individual student reading fluency progress:

Volunteers have supported students in the program to track their own numeracy fluency progress through simple graphs showing their results each session. Most of our students have enjoyed seeing an upwards trend in their results as the term unfolded, which has spurred on their confidence, with improvements often translating well into classroom learning.

A massive THANK YOU to our incredibly generous volunteers who have supported the program during Term 2, Term 3, or both terms:

Kathleen M, Seleney D, Natalie T, Lauren F, Ebony M, Jess O, Sharinne C, Adrianna S, Sharne P, Georgina M, Marissa P, Kylie C, Hannah M, Jenny L, Karen D, and Jayda M.

A special shoutout to Mel Lawrence as well, a member of our Education Support team, who has supported the program through her involvement in filling some of the gaps we have had in the schedule each week.

Feedback from our students has been overwhelmingly positive, and they are clearly enjoying forming some positive connections across our school community, with people that they wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity to meet.

We are always on the lookout for new team members! FwF will continue for half of Term 4 and we are looking forward to giving it another run in 2027.

If you have the capacity to join the FwF team, we would love to welcome you into the team! No teaching experience is required; step-by-step training and the resources provided will help you feel confident to give it a go. Sessions run first thing in the morning and from 3pm to help make the timing convenient for everyone.
