Centenary Concert - Sunday rehearsal

We are holding a rehearsal for the Centenary Concert this Sunday July 30 in the Performing Arts building. All Senior School students in the ensembles and choirs are required to attend.  A schedule of rehearsal times was forwarded with the Consent2Go last week. Dress for this is casual.

Students should arrive 10minutes before their allotted rehearsal time. All students need to be in attendance for the centenary and celebration songs from 12.45 – 1.45pm.

Welcome to new Head of Instrumental Music

The Music Department welcomes Paul Jenkins to Kilvington as Head of Instrumental Music. A graduate of the VCA and Monash University, Paul regularly performs with Melbourne Opera, Australian Discovery Orchestra, and Aussie Pops Orchestra, among many others. Paul was also a Director of Music at Padua College.

In 2013, Paul formed the Peninsula Chamber Musicians, where he continues to perform as principal clarinettist and as a soloist. As a multi-instrumentalist, Paul performs on flutes, saxophones and oboe for musical theatre, and was recently a casual for Opera Australia’s production of Phantom of the Opera

Winter Concert

The highly anticipated Winter Concert was held on Wednesday 14 June in Dalton Hall. The concert was well-attended and gave students in Year 8 and below a chance to perform as soloists or in groups. We heard nine talented soloists perform on a wide range of instruments, including flute, piano, bassoon, French horn and guitar.

The concert included choral works performed by the Klefs and Years 5 and 6 Choir, who presented We Know the Way. This was a preview of the Junior School's upcoming production of Moana Jr, coming to the stage in September.

Many of the developing ensembles at Kilvington performed, including the Junior Strings, Intermezzo Suzuki Strings, Kadenza, Concert Band, Junior Percussion Ensemble, Junior Guitar Ensemble and Flute Ensemble.

One of the final pieces for the evening was a rendition of Killer Queen presented by VCE students. Congratulations to all the students who were involved in this fabulous evening of music and entertainment.
