In addition to our Interschool sports competitions, Cross Country was a big focus this term, and we had some fantastic team and individual results.

MONASH DIVISION INTERSCHOOL SPORT COMPETITION

In Term 2, we had a total of 25 teams representing the school in our Interschool competitions in Badminton, Netball and Soccer. Our Year 7 Girls' Netball team and Year 8 Girls' Soccer teams both won their competitions and have advanced to the Regional event in Term 3, with several other teams being very competitive in their respective competitions.

HOUSE CROSS COUNTRY EVENT

MONASH DIVISION CROSS COUNTRY

Following on from our House event, we took a team of 89 students to the Monash Division Cross Country event at Nortons Park on Thursday, May 25th. Our results from this competition were outstanding, culminating in us winning the Intermediate Shield and finishing only 5 points behind in second place in the Junior Shield. We had 7 of the first 15 runners in the Under 15 Girls event. We also won five events on the day, with Lucia Shaw winning the 12/13 Girls, Kenji Calf the 12/13 Boys, Sophie Volpert the 14 Girls, Vanessa Sadjoli the 15 Girls and Evangelos Panagiotou the 12/13 Multiclass event. We had 32 students qualify for the Eastern Metropolitan Cross Country Championships.

EASTERN METROPOLITAN CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

The EMR event was held at Yarra Glen Racecourse on Tuesday, June 13th, with the highlights being Evangelos Panagiotou winning the 12/13 Multi Class event and Kenji Calf finishing 4th in the 12/13 Boys event. These students have now qualified for the State Cross Country Championships.A special mention also to Sophie Volpert, who finished 14th in the 14 Girls event and narrowly missed qualifying and Lucia Shaw, who was in a strong position to qualify in the 12/13 Girls event before suffering an ankle injury.A big thank you must also go to Jack Wright, who again ran alongside and supported Evangelos in the multi-class event.

SPORTING ACHIEVEMENTS

Outside of our own school program, we would also like to congratulate Eli Franzke, who has been selected in the Under 18 Victorian Boys Volleyball squad, and Sabra Hadjisofocleous, who has been selected in the Under 16 Victorian Girls Volleyball Squad. These achievements are not just a reflection of their talent in this sport, but also the commitment they have shown to their training and ongoing improvement.
