From the Deputy Principal/Head of Senior School

Mr Paul Brooks

The College Director of Boarding, Mr Max Spencer finishes at St Gregory’s at the end of this term to take up the position of House Dean at Marist College Canberra, commencing in Term 1 2021. We congratulate Max on this appointment and wish him every success and happiness in this new role. At the same time, we are thankful and grateful for the outstanding contributions that Max has made to St Gregory’s College over the past ten years.

Max commenced his employment at the College in 2011 in the role of Senior Boarding Coordinator. In 2015 he was appointed to his current position of Director of Boarding. In addition to taking on the substantial Senior Leadership position of Director of Boarding, Max has also held the position of ISA/Weekend Sports Coordinator.

During the last decade, Max has given outstanding service to the College. The number of hours he has devoted to the wonderful care of students and staff is nothing short of phenomenal. Those who have had the opportunity to work with and get to know Max know him to be a man of great character, heart and soul and a loving family man. He has a passionate commitment to his faith and Marist values. He has displayed wholehearted commitment and dedication to the Boarding program with his selflessness, approachability and friendliness.

We take this opportunity to wish Max and his family every best wish and God’s blessings as they prepare to move from their home of the last decade to a new life back in Canberra.

Semester 2 Examinations

This week all of the students in Years 7-10 have been actively engaged in completing Semester 2 examinations in each of their courses. Our Year 11 students have also been working hard to prepare for their first HSC assessment task in most of their courses. It is pleasing to see the commitment from the majority of the students until the last day.

We always emphasise that it is important to finish well and finish strongly and I congratulate the boys in the Senior School who have accepted this challenge. A reminder that Semester 2 examinations will be available to be collected from the College Hall on Saturday 12 December from 9.00am to 12.00pm.

End of Year

I wish all College families the blessings of the Christmas season and hope that you are able to find ample opportunity to spend quality time together as a family. Every best wish to all students for the holiday break and we look forward to welcoming the students back in 2021.
