From the Head of Junior School

Mr Joel Weekes

Dear Members of the St Gregory’s Family,

Well, that is almost a wrap for the year, and what a year it has been . . . it will be memorable for such a long list of reasons! What a big week we have had this week. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the smiles on the faces of the students at the ‘Move Up Day’, witnessing and joining the students at the Celebration of Learning on Thursday and just getting into classes with the students during the week.

I look forward to farewelling our Year 6 group through their Graduation Mass and Presentation on Monday and their final walkout on Thursday afternoon.

The Celebration of Learning

Another great year is almost coming to an end and it was a lovely occasion to celebrate the class, sport and co-curricular achievements of some of the students on Thursday. I want to congratulate all the award winners from this week and to all students for your efforts and successes that you have all achieved this year!

Like all events at St Gregory’s College, they do not just happen, there is always a lot of behind the scenes work that takes place. I want to thank Mrs Romeo for her organisation of awards in conjunction with Mrs Stevens and Mrs Denford, our ICT Department for setting up the live-streaming that took place and also to the staff for their presence in making the transitions for the students work throughout the event.

Year 6 Graduation Mass and Presentation

I look forward to welcoming all our Year 6 families to join us at 9:30am on Monday for our Farewell Mass and Presentation for our Year 6 students. We are looking forward to celebrating with this wonderful group of students not only their time at St Gregory’s over the past three years but to celebrate this time of their lives as they transition to High School. I know that on Monday it is going to be a special Mass. We look forward also to celebrating with this group and their parents at the morning tea that follows.

Christmas Activity Day

On Tuesday, we will be hosting a really fun Christmas Activity Day. With the Carols not being able to go ahead – which is one of my most favourite days of the year, we have decided to put on a special day for the Junior School students. This will be set up like Science Day where they go from class to class with short activities lead by the teachers. The boys and girls will be able to dress in their Christmas colours on the day.

I want to thank all parents and carers for their support this year – I really do value your ‘family spirit’. I hope everyone enjoys the last week of the school year!

As our St Gregory’s College motto states, ‘You will reap what you sow’.
