EALD Workshop

Our recent EALD parent workshop, delivered by our fantastic R-2 EALD teacher Helena Sukno, was a fantastic success, with a strong turnout and overwhelmingly positive feedback from families. The session unpacked what EALD (English as an Additional Language or Dialect) is, and how it supports students to develop the language, vocabulary and sentence structures needed to access learning across all subjects. Importantly, we highlighted that EALD practices benefit all students, as they provide clear, explicit teaching of language that strengthens reading, writing and comprehension for everyone. Parents also took part in hands-on activities, experiencing the types of lessons their children engage in at school, which was a real highlight of the session. A video of the workshop is available below, and on our website in the EALD page, and the presentation slides are available for anyone who would like to revisit or explore the content further.
Thank you to all families who attended. Your support and engagement are what make these workshops so valuable in strengthening the connection between home and school, and in supporting student learning together.
Mr. Shortt.
