3-4 Class

(Miss Sahyoune)

Term 3 is in full swing and we are having so many fun experiences.

Literacy

The children have enjoyed reading our classroom book “Restart”.  As Chase pieces his identity back together, he discovers he wasn't always kind to those around him. It's a powerful story that explores bullying, friendship, and the courage to do the right thing. The children are learning that the way we treat others can have a long lasting effect. We have been discussing vocabulary such as reputation, amnesia, and disorientation.

Mathematics

This week we have had some fun competing in our Mini Metric Games. The children have been consolidating their knowledge of measuring length, area, capacity and volume in real life events.  Students competed in Olympic-style events using their measurement skills. The events included Straw Javelin, Marble Grab, Cottonball shotput, Paper Plate Discuss, Sponge Soak and Big Foot. All those who participated will receive at least one medal for the events, to be presented at assembly.

Integrated Unit & Wellbeing

This term's integrated unit is Chemical Science, where we're learning about solids, liquids and gases. We are beginning to complete some hands-on STEM activities to investigate these properties. In Social and Emotional Learning, we have begun creating a weekly goal in line with our three core values, Respect, Responsibility and GRIT.

Congratulations to our Student of the Week!

7/8/26 - Levi- For being an involved learner in his literacy. For participating in our whiteboard and book writing in literacy. Levi has been giving everything a RED HOT SHOT.  Levi has also one of the neatest joined handwriters I have seen. Levi has also been very accurate in our measurement unit, estimating very closely to the actual amounts. Keep up the AMAZING work.

7/8/26 - Ivy, for being responsible and a wonderful example of what a leader should look like. A wonderful role model for our class and for younger students in our school. Always helping out in any way she can.
