Principal's message

Today is Principal's Day, and it has given me an opportunity to reflect on just how fortunate and proud I am to be the Principal of Alvie Primary School.

Every day I have the privilege of working alongside dedicated staff, wonderful students and incredibly supportive families. Whether it's seeing students challenge themselves in the classroom, watching the amazing constructions taking shape in the sandpit, or seeing our community come together to support the school, I'm reminded that Alvie is a very special place.

There is certainly plenty happening around the school at the moment. We celebrated 100 days of prep on Friday last week, and all the activities that Mrs Thorley and Mrs Bush planned thoroughly enjoyed by the class.

Preparations are well underway for Book Week, with this year's theme, "Symphony of Stories," already inspiring creativity across our classrooms. Planning is also happening for National Science Week, with a range of hands-on learning experiences to encourage students to investigate, question and explore.

This week, our staff joined colleagues from neighbouring small schools for a curriculum day focused on strengthening mathematics teaching and learning. It was a valuable opportunity to collaborate, share ideas and continue building consistency in our maths practice. Our teachers have also recently visited other schools to observe effective classroom practice, which has provided further opportunities to reflect on and strengthen our own teaching.

We are also excited to announce that our Friday canteen will be returning from next week. A huge thank you to the volunteers who are making this possible. We really appreciate your time and support. More information, including ordering details, will be shared early next week.

Finally, I would like to congratulate Mrs Sahyoune on the fantastic achievement of publishing her book. Bec will also be featured as a local writer at the Geelong Regional Writers Festival. This is a wonderful achievement and something to be very proud of. Congratulations, Bec!

Thank you to our students, staff, families and wider community for making Alvie such a wonderful place to learn, work and belong. I feel incredibly proud to be part of this school community and look forward to everything the remainder of the term has in store.
