Australian Sign Language (Auslan)

Students across the school have been learning how to sign Zoo Animals. They have learnt a range of different animals and have listened to stories that are interpreted in Auslan.

Prep - Year 3

Students have been taught the signs for; tiger, rhino, lion, zebra, seal, hippo, turtle, bird, jellyfish, penguin, elephant, giraffe, snake, peacock and monkey. Students have interpreted the visual Australian Sign Language into spoken English. Prep and grade 1s have created a book with each animal and grade 2 and 3 coloured animals and their habitats to practice. 

Year 4 - Year 6

Students have been taught the signs for; tiger, rhino, lion, zebra, seal, hippo, turtle, bird, jellyfish, penguin, elephant, giraffe, snake, peacock and monkey. Students have interpreted the visual Australian Sign Language into spoken English. They have created a story with the signs they know and made a book they can read using Australian Sign Language.
