🎸 Rock Bands in the Community
Our LHS rock bands ABC, HSD and ROOM2 have been busy entertaining the community at both the Mt Evelyn Street Party and the Maroondah Festival.
These public performances have provided a wonderful opportunity to showcase our talented musicians and highlight the strength of our Instrumental Music program.

🎤 The Acorn ‘School of Rock’
Recently, bands ABC and ROOM2 performed at The Acorn Bar and Restaurant as part of the ‘School of Rock’ youth music series, celebrating young, up-and-coming musicians in our community.
Well done to both groups for your outstanding and professional performances!

🎺 Remembrance Day Assembly
On November 11th, two of our brass students, Josh Chan and Daniel Lefel, performed The Last Post for the whole-school assembly in the stadium.
This is a challenging and important piece of music, and both boys played beautifully. Thank you and well done!

Congratulations to the following students on their recent AMEB achievements:

🎼 Melbourne Youth Orchestra
The Melbourne Youth Orchestra (MYO) offers an incredible opportunity for young musicians to develop ensemble skills, teamwork, communication, creativity and sight-reading through engaging rehearsals and workshops.
Two of our talented musicians - Freya Green (clarinet) and Oli Green (saxophone) - recently participated in the MYO Winter School and have now been accepted into the MYO Summer School, joining more than 800 young musicians for a week (January 12 to 17) of musical discovery at the University of Melbourne. Congratulations to both students!
📦Return of Hired Instruments
Students who have hired brass or woodwind instruments must scan them back into the library and return them to their instrumental music teacher for checking by Friday 12th December.
If you wish to continue using your instrument over the summer holidays, please speak with Ms Goode in the PAC office.
📝 2026 Enrolments
Enrolments are now open for 2026 Instrumental Music lessons.
Next year, an annual levy will apply for students learning with department teachers (woodwind, brass and percussion). Guitar, voice and piano lessons will continue to run privately with weekly tuition fees.
Please note: Only existing piano students may re-enrol for piano in 2026. No new piano enrolments will be taken.
