Talk Time- Mondays

It has been wonderful to see the students growing in their confidence each week during our talk time on a Monday. If you are wanting to send in any photos for your child to discuss please email kayla.m@sfxfrankston.catholic.edu.au

Week 8 topic: 'A superpower you wish you had'

Inquiry

During our Inquiry sessions we have continued our sound stories topic, the children embraced this through exploring different instruments and sound effects. Last week, the students made their own macaras with rice, pasta and beads to make different sounds. We made predictions as a class which of these would be the loudest and softest.

We recently read the Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson, watched the film and acted it out in a play as a class, with of course some great sound effects of stomping, flying, hissing and running. The children have greatly enjoyed this topic this term.

We have explored different representations of to digit numbers and exploring ordering and comparing numbers. Our next topic beginning next week will be Addition and Subtraction.

Ms Laura and Ms Terri's Year 2 Maths class, they have been exploring learning about telling time.

The Prayer Backpacks have now started going home. They each contain a selection of crafted prayer activities to do with the whole family. Madison and Leah are first two students to take them home. All the grade 2's will have a turn, and then the grade 1's sometime over the course of the year.

We've also been learning about the sacrament of baptism and the symbolic items that are present during baptisms.
