NEWS FROM THE ART ROOM
We have been having a very busy time in the Art room over the last several weeks and it has been wonderful to see students participating with such enthusiasm and creativity!
The Preps completed some beautiful "In My Heart" Art this week which is on display along the main corridor. The 1/2 students have made some jellyfish, coloured some colourful fish and this week are working to complete their underwater scene using watercolour paint and collage.
The 3 - 6 students have been busy working on some Ocean themed art, with the 3/4s completing a sea turtle drawing and an underwater collage. The 5/6s drew some fantastic humpback whales and have also been working on a beach themed collage.
Well done everybody!

STEM NEWS
This week students in the Junior Area continued to learn about Materials and their Properties. Students participated in several activities where they were able to list, explain and describe a Material. The “Mystery Bag” was a big hit. Students thoroughly enjoyed using their senses to describe what was hidden in the bag. Prep's used this knowledge to begin a mini tower experiment. Meanwhile, the 1/2 needed to make a chair/bed or table which would hold a weight. See below.
In the 3/4 area students were also learning about Materials and their Properties. They participated in five experiments with various materials to build a tall and durable tower. In small groups, students had to problem solve and work collaboratively to improve on the previous groups design. This was lots of fun.
Kinetic Energy has been the focus in the 5/6 area with students beginning to design and build their “Rube Goldberg” Machines. Students worked in small groups with lots of trial and error to get the design ‘Just Right’. They recorded and took images and videos on the iPad to improve their designs. Here are a few examples.
INTERSCHOOL SWIMMING CARNIVAL
Last week some of our Grade 4-6 students competed at the Interschool Swimming Carnival at Echuca. They should all be very proud of their efforts and achievements.
