 Year 3/4 News

Literacy

This term, we have been exploring a text-based unit centred around the book The Little Turtle and The Sea. Through this story, students have been learning about the predators and environmental dangers faced by sea turtles, while also building their vocabulary with new words such as lashed, emerged, foraging, and tended. It has been wonderful to see students using this rich vocabulary in their writing.

Students have also been developing their Writer’s Notebooks, participating in a range of purposeful activities designed to strengthen idea generation and support imaginative writing. These experiences are helping students expand their creativity, elaborate on their ideas, and build confidence as young authors.

Numeracy

In Maths, we have been focusing on place value, working with numbers beyond 100. Students have been skip counting and ordering numbers to strengthen their number sense. We also completed a unit on estimating and explored odd and even numbers, identifying patterns and applying this knowledge in problem-solving tasks.

Resilience Project

Students have been exploring how to notice, identify and describe different emotions within themselves. We have learnt that emotions are like visitors, they come and go and that all feelings are okay.

Other News

Grade 4 student Charlie Eade was featured in The Weekly Times, on WIN News and on The Today Show for his talents and aspirations in auctioneering. Charlie has a passion for animals, especially chickens and cows, and spends much of his time outside of school immersed in this world. His enthusiasm and commitment to learning more about the industry are truly impressive. We are so proud of him, what an outstanding achievement!
