Ash Wednesday: The Beginning of Lent
Today, on Ash Wednesday, we came together as a school community to mark the beginning of Lent, a sacred season of reflection, renewal and preparation for Easter.
Thank you to Claire and our Faith and Mission Leaders for leading us in a beautiful and prayerful Ash Wednesday liturgy. A special thank you to Jim, from Disciples, for displaying great leadership and confidence as he read his sister’s Prayer of the Faithful.
As we received the ashes, we were reminded of God’s deep love for us and our call to turn our
hearts back to Him. This moment also connects closely with our theme guiding our Term One Religion learning, Christ Behind Us; Reminding us that even when we are called to reflect, change and grow, Christ walks with us, supports us and strengthens us every step of the way.
Throughout Lent, we are invited to live more intentionally through prayer, fasting and almsgiving.
With Christ behind us, we are encouraged to move forward with courage, compassion, and hope; showing kindness to others, caring for creation and choosing actions that reflect Jesus’ love in our everyday lives.
As a school community, we now begin this Lenten journey together, trusting that Christ is guiding us, supporting us and calling us to be people of love and service.
May this season of Lent be a time of deep growth and faith for our entire community.
St Vinnies Letter of Appreciation
Dear Students, Families and Staff of St. Mary of the Cross MacKillop PS,
The Epping Conference of St. Vincent de Paul wishes to thank you for the great generosity and the effort your community went to in supporting us with the Christmas hampers in 2025. We appreciate the love shown and the amount of work that went into putting the hampers together.
With your help we were able to deliver a total of 140 hampers to families in our local area.
Last year continued to be difficult for many people and your hampers brought much appreciated support.
On behalf of all those who received hampers, we thank you.
Congratulations to you all and thank you to all families and staff for demonstrating love and care for others, just as Jesus asks of us. The children are inspired and energized by your examples. We are so lucky and proud to be supported by you as we work within our local community.
Yours with gratitude and may God bless you all,
Michael
