Principal's News

Dear SMCM Community, Wominjeka!
Thank you for your support as we have settled into a new school year:
- Thank you for reassuring your children that adjusting to change takes time.
- Thank you for communicating with new homegroup teachers as they get to know and build relationships with your child.
- Thank you for downloading and logging into Compass so you can stay up to date with what is happening at school.
- Thank you for supporting your children to follow school routines and expectations.
- Thank you for prioritising student safety before and after school.
Pathway to Prep
Thank you to our 2026 Prep Parents who joined us on Tuesday night to continue their child's transition into Prep. It was an opportunity to hear from the homegroup teachers and learn more about the daily structure, ways of learning and curriculum. Our Prep Parents were great sports joining in phonics lessons, completing a maths daily review and retelling a story using our oral language hand gestures. We are very proud of the way our Prep children have settled into school over the past four weeks including attending our whole school Ash Wednesday Liturgy.
2027 Prep Enrolments are Now Open
This week we began our 2027 Prep Tours with a large group of potential families. Congratulations to our Year 6 Active Citizenship Leaders, who joined the tours, and were able to confidently answer parent questions and explain the way we learn and work together at SMCM.
Any current families with siblings commencing at school next year are asked to complete an enrolment form as soon as possible so we can determine how many additional places we have to offer new families. Prep places will be offered in May.
Digital enrolment forms and tour bookings are available on our website and via the QR Code.
Congratulations to Alicia, Jordan, Henry (Creeds Homegroup) and Franklin (Marram Homegroup) on the safe arrival of their beautiful new baby brother Hugo!
Congratulations to Evan Paul Ebin (Optimism Homegroup) and his family on receiving their Australian Citizenship this week.
This week we celebrate Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the Lenten Season, 40 days before Easter. Our focus during Lent is Prayer, Almsgiving and Fasting.
Loving God,
In this season of Lent help me to pray with an open heart,
to fast with trust and self-control,
and to give with generosity and love.
May these small sacrifices draw me nearer to Jesus
and help me share your hope with others.
Amen.
