Compass: Recording late arrivals and early dismissals
It is a legal requirement for schools to know where students are each day and to record attendance, including reasons for absences. With our new Compass platform, some procedures have changed:
- Families can now lodge their child’s absence directly through the Compass app.
- If an absence is not entered by a parent or carer and a teacher marks a student absent, families will receive a notification asking for a reason. Please respond to these notifications as soon as possible. Providing a reason for absence is a legal requirement.
- Extended absences, such as family holidays, can also be entered through Compass.
Below are some steps to support you.
Recording Absences, Late Arrivals & Early Dismissals:
Via Web Portal:
- Log into Compass Parent Portal
- Click 'Add Attendance Note'
- Select reason from dropdown
- Add details/comments if needed
- Set start and finish date/time
- Click 'Save'
Via Compass App:
- Open app -> blue shortcuts button (bottom)
- Click 'Submit Attendance Note'
- Select reason and add description
- Set start/finish times
- Click 'Save'
For Unexplained Absences:
- Check alerts on home screen
- Click alert -> takes you to 'Unexplained' tab
- Select sessions needing explanation
- Click 'Explain with Attendance Note'
- Complete form and save
Early Dismissal:
- Add attendance note beforehand when possible
- Student must still check out at office/kiosk when leaving
If you need any help using Compass, our administration team is always available to support you. Please note the Audiri App is no longer in use for our school.
Medical plans and medication
If your child has asthma, an allergy or is anaphylactic can you please supply reception with a current plan from the doctor as well as their medication (if you haven't done so already).
