CROSS COUNTRY CARNIVAL 2025

On Wednesday 14th May, 60 of Mullauna Secondary College’s energetic students walked to Halliday Park to participate in the school cross country event.  It was splendid weather, once again, leading to a trifecta of perfect weather for Mullauna’s carnival events this year. Students not only competed against fellow students in their age group but also had to battle to stay ahead of experienced long-distance trackers, Mr Perree, Mr Verrell and Mr Ruff. For an extra challenge they also had to count laps as they completed the 3.35km course (4.95km for the 16 boys).

There was great camaraderie at the event with cheers as competitors passed by the lap/finish line each time, and a big thank you to the main cheer squad / officials, Kim Ochan, Scarlett Capobianco and Maya Carnegie-Mehrtens who ensured the event ran successfully.

The event finished in tremendous spirit and students enjoyed a recovery walk back to school to collect their recovery reward.

Following a time of data entry and calculations, the results are in.  It was a tight finish from 4th to 2nd and late entries may have impacted the finishing order, however there was a clear winner. The winner was a House that had struggled at both the swimming and athletics carnival.  In fourth place, Bradman (53 points), third place, Freeman (56.5 points), second place, O’Neill (58 points) and first place was Rafter (71.5 points)

A huge thank you goes out to all the students who participated and conducted themselves with exemplary behaviour which the whole college community can be proud of. To the staff mentioned above and to Mr McMillin, Mr Bray and Mr Cotton for their support to the smooth running of the event and pack-up. Congratulations to all who ran, particularly to our age group place getters:
