VCE - Vocational Major
May 2025
Over the past few weeks, the Year 12 VCE-VM Personal Development Skills (PDS) class at Mullauna Secondary College has been hard at work on a creative and collaborative school mural project. This hands-on initiative, which began on May 5, 2025, is taking place on two walls at the entrance to the sports stadium. The mural aims to brighten the space while fostering essential teamwork, collaboration, and communication skills among students.
Guided by mural artist and outdoor adventurer Elise Marcianti, the students are involved in every step of the process—from brainstorming and planning the mural design to painting it themselves. Elise, who has painted numerous murals across Melbourne and regional Victoria, brings her passion for nature and exploration into the project.
The mural project is structured across five weeks, with the first week dedicated to brainstorming. Teams of five students rotate each Monday to contribute.
At the conclusion of the student contributions, Elise will take on the large wall beside the sports stadium entrance, completing the mural with her professional touch. Elise has utilised sports themes as well as the school's motto of courage, community and curiosity in her designs.
Beyond beautifying the school grounds, the project serves as an opportunity for students to develop discipline, collaborate as a team, and engage in real-world applied learning.
Keep an eye out for the mural’s progress—and its colourful final reveal!
