the  Our next Dear Families and Students of OLSC

Term 3 is looking pretty epic so hopefully students and staff are well rested following the break and ready for everything this term will bring.

Well Played and Congratulations Hockey Team

On Tuesday, 11 of our Year 6 Girls represented OLSC in divisional hockey at Presidents park. They are very proud of their efforts and rightky so - the team won both of their games and will now move onto the regional competition.  Congratulations to Tian and Ann on coaching the team!

There is a limit of 3 tickets per family at this stage.

Please note that doors open at 6:30pm for a 7:00pm start. It is expected to finish at 9pm and parents CANNOT collect students prior to the end of the performance.

MACSSIS 2025

Each year students, families and staff are given the opportunity to provide invaluable feedback regarding all aspects of our school. This survey - MACSSIS (Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools - School Improvement Surveys) - is conducted via a secure and purpose-built online platform.

Our community’s opinions are critical to understanding how our school is performing – MACSSIS is a key data source for guiding the ongoing work to improve our school.

All participation is invited, welcomed and 100 per cent voluntary. The surveys are not a test; they are an inclusive way to support the work we are already doing to improve our school. Everyone has the right to refuse to participate, or withdraw from the survey at any point before, during or after completion of the survey. Please notify the school if your child does not wish to participate.

Please take a look over the Informed Consent letter below for further details.

School Holiday Community Mass

Our last Community Mass was held in the school holidays and was very successful.  As staff were not at school the set up and the finer details of the Mass were handled by the community group.  I thank all of our parishoners for 'answering the call' and giving up their time to set up this parish celebration.

The next Community Mass is scheduled for Sunday the 17th August. This Mass celebration will be presided by our Regional Bishop Martin Ashe and I encourage all of our community to come along to this celebration.

OLSC Book Week Parade 2025

Monday 18th August

The Book Week dress-up parade is coming up in the next few weeks! Students are invited to come to school dressed up as a favourite character or something related to reading books. The Book Week theme this year is 'Book an Adventure'. Students can also choose to wear something to do with adventure or even just wear colourful party clothes to celebrate their love of books.

The parade will be held in the school hall at 9 am on the 18th of August, and all families are invited to attend.

BOOK FAIR - This year, the Book Fair will be held later in the year due to the school performance being held in the hall. The Fair will be at OLSC in the first week of Term 4 - just in time to buy some Christmas gifts!

THE GREAT BOOK SWAP

Once again, OLSC is holding a Great Book Swap this year. This is to support the Indigenous

Literacy Foundation (ILF) in providing books and learning resources to children living in remote communities across Australia. The Great Book Swap is a fantastic way to celebrate reading locally, learn more about Indigenous culture, and raise funds for a great cause.

From now until Monday 1st September, students are invited to bring pre-loved children's books (picture books, graphic novels, information texts or children's novels) in good condition that they no longer want at home. Each student can bring up to 5 books.

On Wednesday 3rd September, bring a gold coin to school to buy a pre-loved book to take home from The Great Book Swap. Parents, if you can help set up the book swap on Tuesday 2nd September or help with the sale of books on Wednesday 3rd September, please email me at kmorrissey@olscwyn.catholic.edu.au

Enjoy Retirement Alison

This week Alison has finished up at OLSC and is looking forward to some other adventures in retirement.  We thank Alison for her contribution to the OLSC Community and wish her well.

MacKillop College Applications Closing Soon

MacKillop College applications for Yr 7, 2027 close on Friday 15th August.  For all our current Yr 5 families I urge you to get your application in if you are considering MacKillop College for your child.  Spaces will fill very fast and even though we are one of the main feeder schools to MacKillop it is important to adhere to the dates to have the best chance at gaining an enrolment offer.

Whole School Mass - Friday 15th August

Our next whole school mass is on Friday 15th August.  Please come along and join us at 9:00 am in the Sports Centre.

Prayer for the New Church

The parish prayer for the new church is below.  Please feel free to include this in your family prayers as a new church for the Manor Lakes community would be a great feature of our parish.

Share your Child's Achievements

If anyone in your family has an achievement that could be shared in the newsletter and is worthy of celebration and acknowledgement, please email Justin to be included in the next newsletter.
