School Sport Victoria (SSV) Events
SSV GWR Year 8 Girls Netball
On Wednesday 25th June the BHS Year 8 Girls Netball team qualified for the SSV Greater Western Region Year 8 Girls Netball competition at the Ballarat Netball Association. It was certainly the ideal time to be playing inside with the extremely inclement weather outside, mind you the temperature inside the building was freezing!
The Year 8 girls competition 5 teams competing in a Round Robin competition. BHS played Timboon P-12 College (25 goals to 21 goals), Emmanuel College (13 goals to 28 goals), Horsham College (16 goals to 23 goals) and Trinity College (6 goals to 21 goals).
The team secured one win to finish the competition in 4th place.

SSV GWR Year 7 & 8 Badminton
On Wednesday 25th June BHS took 4 teams (2 x Year 8 Boys, Year 7 Boys, Year 7 Girls) to the SSV Greater Western Region Year 7 & 8 Badminton competition held at the Ken Kay Badminton Centre, Ballarat.
All competitions were Round Robin today so the most wins secured a school the overall victory.
The Year 8 Boys Team 1 played matches against Ballarat High School Team 2 (1 set to 5 sets), Balmoral Community College (2 sets to 4 sets), Woodmans Hill Secondary College (5 sets to 1 sets) and Mount Clear College (3 sets, 57 points to 3 sets, 35 points) to finish in 3rd place for the competition.
The Year 8 Boys Team 2 played matches against Ballarat High School Team 1 (5 sets to 1 set), Mount Clear College (5 sets to 1 set), Balmoral Community College (3 sets, 61 points to 3 sets, 57 points) and Woodmans Hill Secondary College (5 sets to 1 set). Going undefeated the Year 8 Boys Team 2 were declared the champions.
The Year 7 Boys played matches against Colac Secondary College (0 sets to 6 sets), Cobden Technical College (4 sets to 0 sets) and Woodmans Hill Secondary College (3 sets, 78 points to 3 sets, 75 points) to finish runners up for the competition.
Finally, the Year 7 Girls had a single match against Woodsmans Hill Secondary College which unfortunately they went down in 1 set to 5 sets. The team finished runners up for the competition.
They Year 8 Boys Team 2 have now qualified for the SSV Year 8 Boys State Championships on Friday 12th September at the Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre (MSAC).

Year 7 Girls: Ann Laby Joanna, Maddison Kraulins, Yana Patel

SSV Eureka Year 7 Soccer
On Friday 27th June BHS took two teams (Year 7 Boys & Year 7 Girls) to the SSV Eureka Year 7 Soccer event at Wendouree West Soccer Reserve.
Year 7 Boys competition played a Round Robin competition with a Grand Final. The team played matches against Mount Clear College (5 goals to o goals), Woodmans Hill Secondary (3 goals to 2 goals) and Phoenix Secondary College (5 goals to 0 goals). 3 wins qualified the team for the Grand Final against Woodmans Hill Secondary College. The team put on an absolute masterclass of skills combined with team work to win the match 7 goals to 0 goals in a strong display of dominance. The Year 7 Boys team were declared the Eureka Division champions for 2025.
The Year 7 Girls team had a much simpler task only required to play the one match against Mount Clear which they cruised through taking the win 4 goals to 0 goals.
Both teams have now qualified for the SSV Greater Western Region Year 7 Soccer competition on Wednesday 6th August at the Wendouree West Soccer Reserve.
The school also had 3 students who umpired on the day.

SSV Eureka Year 7 Soccer
On Friday 24th July BHS had 4 students attend the SSV State Cross Country Championships at the Yarra Valley Race Course in Yarra Glen.
It typical SSV State fashion the course got plenty of rain before the event which made for a difficult under foot conditions.

Great Southern Shield Lawn Bowls Championships
Congratulations to Year 8 student Yuvraj Miterani who played in the Ballarat U/18 representative lawn bowls team (The Gold Diggers) at the Great Southern Shield Championships at the Colac Bowling Club on Saturday 5th July.
The team played matches against representative teams from Essendon, Geelong and Camperdown.
Unfortunately, the Gold Diggers fell just short of victory going down to the Essendon Northern Flyers but only 6 points! Finish table below:
