Next Stage Drama Incursions

On Monday 30th June, select groups of Year 8/9 students took the opportunity to participate in a Drama Incursion hosted by Drama Victoria.

The Year 8’s focus was on empathy and collaboration. In these sessions students participated in a range of games and activities wherein they had to fine tune their communication skills in a range of different emotional contexts. Students gave their own insights into what empathy means and in doing so were challenged to think deeply on how we meet people where they are at in our day to day interactions.

The Year 9’s focused on critical thinking and confidence. Throughout this session they were thrown a range of puzzling tasks and limiting circumstances with which they could complete said tasks. One example: they had to communicate their favourite film to the rest of the group without speaking, no use of actions/gestures and no writing it down. It took some time, but before long they were humming various theme songs for their films. There was a lot of creative and cheeky responses to tasks, plenty of laughter and plenty of growth in confidence.

Mrs Quick would like to thank all of those students who participated in these workshops. You certainly demonstrated the school values of pride, respect and responsibility whilst also having fun.
