Mrs Ana Seric - Family Educator

Dear parents

Wishing all our families a warm welcome back to term 2! I hope your break was restful and you were able  to spend some quality time together with family in the sunshine.

Thank you to all who have welcomed me warmly as your new Family Educator. I am the mother of 3 boys and 3 girls, all of whom attended St Martha’s, and I am looking forward to serving the families of this community that I love.

May is celebrated in the Catholic church as the month of Mary, the mother of Jesus.

To honour Mary in the month of May, all are invited to join in the praying of the Rosary, a prayer dedicated to Mary and loved by saints throughout history. Many graces are offered to those who meditate on the life of Jesus through this prayer, as well as a peace that comes from the calming rhythm of the repeated prayers.

On Mondays at 2:30pm,  we will resume our  parents’ Rosary prayer group -  Grab your parking spot and join us inside the church.

On Wednesday mornings at 8:30am,  we will  pray a decade of the rosary before school. All are welcome to join us, even if you have never prayed this prayer before.  Rosaries and how to pray cards are provided. For a short video of Bishop Barron explaining how to pray the rosary, click here.

Our Playgroup will resume  on Monday mornings, from 9-10:30 in the school hall. I look forward to welcoming all  preschool aged children, together with their parents, grandparents and carers for a morning of play, craft, storytime and friendship.

Upcoming Faith and Family Opportunities

Paint and Sip

It’s that time of year again when we invite you to come along to our Ashfield/Olympic Park Family Educator Network Paint & Sip Event on Friday 22nd May 2026.

Bookings are now open, so scan the QR Code on the attached flyer or click  HERE.

This year our theme “Create your own Master PEACE” is inspired by the Jubilee of St Francis, where we are called to be the “unarmed” peacemaker by praying for world peace, building bridges and living simply. Bring your mother, grandmother, aunty, sister or friend for a faith-filled wellbeing night for mothers, mother figures and women in our communities. This is an ADULTS ONLY event which has sold out in recent years.

Light Supper provided and Lucky Door Prizes too!

To acknowledge the Jubilee Year of St Francis, we would be very grateful for attendees to our Paint & Sip to help us support the Capuchin Friars’ Van Ministry to the Poor. On the night, you are invited to bring with you a donation of one of the items listed below that they regularly use to serve the poor and homeless in the city area of Sydney - Long life milk, Blend 43 coffee, Milo, Tea, Cordial, Sugar, Fun sized Chocolates.

The Friars' Van goes out to serve and engage the homeless and marginalised people two nights a week, Mondays and Fridays. Their Vision is to reach out and be available to every person they encounter, not only as an act of charity, but fraternal sharing of friendship and companionship. In the spirit of St. Francis, they seek to recognise Jesus in every person they meet and serve.

Heartfelt Mother’s Day

The Hearfelt Community will be holding a Mother’s Day lunch at Strathfield Town Hall on Friday May 15 for women navigating grief at this time- an opportunity for reflection and connection, and to honour those we miss especially at this time.

Fatima Procession

The Fatima procession by candlelight has become a treasured tradition of the Sydney Archdiocese, and will be held again this year on Saturday May 16, the weekend after the feast day of Our Lady of Fatima. It is a beautiful opportunity to pray for the Church and the world, while giving public witness to our faith.

I look forward to continuing to get to know you and your children. We know that parents are the first and primary educators of their children, and a strong St Martha’s community begins in your homes!
