WEAR IT PURPLE DAY

Hello wonderful readers,

We’re thrilled to bring you a recap of the vibrant and meaningful event that took place last Friday the 25th of August. The library was transformed into a rainbow of positivity and inclusivity as we celebrated Wear it Purple Day. This day is all about fostering a sense of belonging and support for young people from the LGBTQIA+ community, and we couldn’t be prouder to have hosted such a fantastic event.

A Kaleidoscope of activities were enjoyed. The library buzzed with energy as visitors young and old joined us to celebrate. We had a diverse range of activities that truly captured the spirit of the event:

Face painting: our talented face painters turned faces into works of art, creating dazzling designs that showcased the colours of the rainbow.

Colouring corner: The colouring corner was a hit and gave students a chance to showcase their artistic flair and creativity.

Trivia Challenge: Minds were put to the test with our Purple themed trivia.

Bake sale: the sweet aroma of the amazing Community Catering students baked goods and were a scrumptious success with the proceeds contributing to an essential cause.

Photo Booth: Laughter and memories were captured at our delightful photo booth, where attendees posed with an array of rainbow-themed props.

Badge making: The team were busy making badges for all those that wanted the chance to wear something in memory of wear it purple day/

United in celebration: we were thrilled to have members from Whittlesea Community Connections and Baseline join us in making this event extra special. The power of unity and community was truly evident as individuals from all walks of life came together to support and celebrate our LGBTQIA+ friends.

Spreading love and acceptance: Wear it Purple Day is not just about colourful attire; it’s a symbol of hope, acceptance, and standing up against discrimination. By hosting this event, we aimed to create a safe and welcoming space where everyone could express themselves freely and be embraced for who they are.

A heartfelt thanks: we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all those who attended and participated in Wear it Purple Day at Epping Secondary College. Your presence and enthusiasm made this event a resounding success. We’d also like to express our appreciation to the amazing volunteers who put in their time and effort to make this event shine.
