St Mary’s School Advisory Council 2026
School Advisory Council Meeting #3
This week our SAC met and as always took part in collective and robust dialogue. St Mary’s is collective grateful for this group. A summary of our discussions is as follows.
A Busy and Successful Term at St Mary’s
St Mary’s has enjoyed a vibrant and productive term, with many opportunities for faith, learning, leadership and community connection.
Our Catholic Identity was celebrated through the Confirmation and Eucharist program, Catholic Education Week activities, National Reconciliation Week, whole-school liturgies and community events. Highlights included our Open Day, Act of Peace Day, Mother’s Day High Tea and the popular “What I Hope to Be” dress-up day, all of which strengthened connections between learners, families and the wider community.
Learning opportunities extended beyond the classroom, with highly successful Year 5 and Year 6 camps, leadership development through action research projects, and strong participation in sporting events including netball, cross country and lawn bowls. We are proud of the positive behaviour, resilience and achievements demonstrated by our learners.
Looking ahead, enrolments remain strong, with filled Foundation class enrolments already confirmed for 2027. Our successful Saturday Open Day attracted many prospective families and will become a regular feature of our enrolment program.
Staff have also continued their commitment to student wellbeing, participating in professional learning to implement the new CESL Wellbeing Framework in Semester 2.
Partnerships within the community continue to grow through regular visits to Brigid’s Light and collaboration with local Catholic education providers.
Work is progressing on future development projects, including car park planning and facility improvements, while recent CESL reviews highlighted the many strengths of St Mary’s, with positive outcomes across all key areas.
We thank our learners, families, staff and parish community for their ongoing support in making St Mary’s a welcoming and thriving learning community.

How Parents can work in Partnership with St Mary’s...
In the spirit of continuing our partnership with families, we warmly invite you to share your interests and availability by completing the short survey included in this newsletter. Throughout the year, our school hosts a variety of events that rely on the support and involvement of our community.
We understand that ongoing commitments, such as joining a parent committee, may not be possible for everyone. However, there are many opportunities to support individual events in ways that are flexible and manageable for families. This expression of interest will help us connect with families as events arise, strengthening community involvement and contributing to the success of our school activities.
We sincerely appreciate any time you may be able to offer and thank you for the continued support you show our school community.
