Learning and Teaching

Reports
Our Semester One Reports will be available via Compass in Week 10.
At St Mary's, there are many opportunities for families to engage with and understand their child's learning journey. Learning Expos, Learning Conversations, Kudos, assemblies, PSG meetings and our formal academic reports all provide valuable insights into your child's progress and achievement.
As you review your child's report, please note that with the implementation of Science as a Specialist Subject across Years 3–6, you may notice a larger than usual increase in progression points within the Science learning area. This may occur where Science has not been formally reported on for an extended period of time (for example, since Semester 1, 2025), resulting in a greater span of learning growth being reflected.
Our staff have worked diligently to ensure that each report accurately reflects your child as a learner within both the classroom and broader school context.
Reports will be published through Compass. If you experience any difficulties accessing Compass, please contact the school office for assistance.
If you have any questions regarding your child's report, please contact their classroom teacher who will be happy to discuss their progress with you.
Year 2
Thank you to all the families who attended our Year 2 Learning Expo. It was wonderful to share our learning with you. Students have been exploring the connections they have with physical places and how these places change over time, from their home and street through to their town and state, helping them understand that we all belong to multiple places. We have also been investigating places Year 2 students are commonly connected to and how these have changed over time.
As we conclude our Connections to Places Inquiry unit, students are reflecting on places they care about and how they can help look after them. They will be creating posters to encourage others to make positive choices and care for shared spaces, such as our school.
Year 3
Our Year 3 Learning Expo was a massive success, and we owe a huge thank you to the wonderful parents who came in to support our learners! With your enthusiastic help, our students successfully recreated the human skeletal system and labelled all the major bones. Having you collaborate alongside our young scientists not only brought the learning to life but also sparked so many great conversations about how our bodies work. Thank you for giving up your time and making this hands-on experience so memorable for everyone involved!
