Wen Ju Hour

            What have we been learning about in our Chinese class?

Our students have been exploring a variety of exciting topics in Mandarin this month.From singing songs to performing dialogues, students across all year levels have been actively engaged in learning the Chinese language and culture through fun, hands on and meaningful activities!

 

🐣 Foundation

We have been learning how to ask “How are you feeling?”, count numbers, and identify colours in Mandarin. Students have enjoyed creating mini counting books and practising how to write Chinese characters. They have also been actively engaged in songs and fun games to enhance their learning experience.

✨Year 1 and 2

Students have been reviewing basic greetings, number counting, family members and how to name their favourite drinks in Mandarin. They have particularly enjoyed singing and reciting the Months of the Year and Days of the Week. Through engaging games and interactive activities, students are building confidence and having fun while developing their Chinese language skills.

🎭 Year 3 and 4

Students have been revisiting greetings, number counting, colours, Australian currency and transport in Mandarin. They enjoyed performing role-plays as customers and shopkeepers, using vocabulary and sentence structures they have learned to purchase goods and talk about Australian currency in Mandarin. These engaging activities helped students build confidence in speaking and listening skills while applying their learning in real-life contexts.

🧠 Year 5 and 6

Students have been reviewing self-introductions, number counting, colours, birthdays, occupations and how to describe what animals can do in Mandarin. Working collaboratively in groups and using ICT, students explored topics of interest while deepening their understanding of Chinese language and culture. Through a range of interactive activities, students continued to strengthen their speaking, reading and cultural knowledge.

🐉 Upcoming Special Event: Dragon Boat FestivalThis year, Dragon Boat Festival falls on Friday, 19th of June.

We will be celebrating this special event in class with a variety of fun activities and games.
