It was wonderful to see all our Years 2 to 6 students competing in the Junior School Interhouse Cross Country this week. The enthusiasm, determination and sportsmanship displayed across all age groups was a real highlight and reflected the strong spirit of our Junior School community. A sincere thank you to all staff involved for their organisation and support in making the event such a success, and to the many parents and caregivers who came along to cheer on the students.

A reminder that Clayfield College is participating in Brisbane City Council’s Safer Schools Program during Term 2, supporting safe parking practices and compliance with local traffic regulations during busy drop‑off and pick‑up times.

We ask all parents, carers and visitors to please follow all road rules and parking signage when around the school. Parking legally and safely helps maintain calm traffic flow and, most importantly, keeps our students, families and wider community safe. Thank you for your continued cooperation and support.

Year 5 Eureka Immersion Excursion

Last Friday, our Year 5 students stepped back in time just outside Beenleigh on a memorable Eureka Excursion, a unique historical experience. Set among thick bushland, student were fully immersed in a carefully recreated 1854 gold field township where learning came to life through hands-on experiences. Through role play, tent making, mapping and observation activities, students explored the daily realities of gold rush life as they bought licences, operated businesses, searched for gold and exchanged goods within a bustling, personalised township. Rather than simply learning about this period in Australia’s history, students experienced it firsthand, deepening their understanding of the past. The excursion highlighted the power of learning through experience, showing how active participation builds deeper knowledge, stronger engagement and lasting learning.
