Well done to all the students who attended our Preston Primary School House Athletics Carnival held at Coburg Athletics Track last week. We were very lucky tor the wet weather to hold oft tor the day allowing events to run smoothly and safely tor our students to enjoy. It really was a day to celebrate being active with all students participating in house games (Take the Hoop, House Memory Tag, 50m Baton Relay and Tug-of-War) and receiving ribbons. There were lots of smiles, laughs and memories created. House points were calculated throughout the day on these results. Also a huge congratulations tor our students who qualified tor the Top 10 events (high jump, long jump, shot put, discus and l00m sprints). These students competed tor spots to represent PPS in the upcoming PDPSSA Athletics Carnival next week.
WOW Darebin Walk or Wheel to School
Last term we participated in WOW Darebin - Walk or wheel to School on Fridays which was a huge success. It was great to see so many students getting involved by either riding, scooting, skating or walking to school. Remember ... It's very important to be sate when riding. Always be sensible, be aware of your surroundings and what's happening around you. The Golden Boot Award has a special reward of Pizzas. The winning classes will have their reward delivered this week. Congratulations to Grades PAC & 6AC!

Teacher Interviews
What do you enjoy most about teaching?
Mrs Bright ... I enjoy getting to know my students and watching them grow throughout the year. Seeing their confidence build, celebrating their achievements and helping them discover what they are capable of is the most rewarding part of teaching.
Claudia … I love seeing kids learning, especially when they have that "a-ha" lightbulb moment of understanding.
What inspired you to become a teacher?
Mrs Bright ... I wanted a job where I could make a positive difference every day. Knowing I can encourage, support and inspire students makes teaching rewarding.
Claudia ... I had really good teachers as a kid who definitely inspired me. I also always loved working with kids so thought I would try it out. I'm so glad that I did!
What is one of your hobbies?
Mrs Bright ... I enjoy going to the AFL, supporting my team and spending time with family and friends at games. I have been a Bulldogs member tor 32 years!
Claudia ... My favourite hobbies are reading and cooking.
What is your favourite meal?
Mrs Bright ... Eggs benny with avocado, mushrooms and my favourite dinner dish is fettuccine marinara.
Claudia ... Eggs in sauce with potatoes and feta.
What is your favourite lesson to teach?
Mrs Bright … Maths - because I enjoy helping students solve problems and discover different ways to think about challenges. It's especially exciting when students realise they're capable of solving something they didn't think they could.
Claudia Reading groups, we do great activities and learn super important skills.
What do you like most about our school?
Mrs Bright ... The friendly and supportive community. The students are enthusiastic, the staff work well together and everyone genuinely cares about helping each child do their best.
Claudia … The students! We have the kindest, friendliest and most fantastic kids here at PPS and I feel so lucky that I get to teach such wonderful students.
What is a fun fact about yourself that your students might not know?
Mrs Bright ... They say good things come in threes and they definitely did tor me on the 1st of October 2016 - The Western Bulldogs won the premiership, my husband Mike proposed and someone bought my footy scarf from me at the Grand Final tor $200!
Claudia ... I only eat green apples and not red apples.
