We are currently in the process of updating the School's website. When you visit the site, you will already notice a change to the launch page. We are also updating some of the content including some of the policies.

In recent days we have uploaded some policies that require community consultation. We would appreciate it if you could have a look at the updated policies and provide any relevant feedback to preston.ps@education.vic.gov.au

The policies are:

  • Bullying Prevention Policy
  • Child Safe - Code of Conduct
  • Child Safe - Abuse Responding and Reporting Obligations Policy and Procedures
  • Child Safety - Wellbeing
  • Complaints Policy

Maths Competition

This week we have had 141 students in Grades 3 - 6 compete in the Australian Maths Competition which is run by the Australian Maths Trust.  First run in 1978, the Australian Mathematics Competition is Australia’s longest running, largest, and most well-known maths competition for school students.

The AMC is an engaging 30-problem competition that demonstrates the importance and relevance of mathematics in students’ everyday lives. Australia’s leading educators and academics, with a deep understanding of our national curriculum standards, actively design the unique AMC problems each year.

We will receive the results for each student who has completed the assessment early next term.

WOW Days

Last term we promoted WOW (Walk or Wheel to school) Days every Friday in conjunction with the Darebin Council. Every student who walked or wheeled to school received a mark on their grade's tally sheet. At the completion of Term 2, the grades with the largest number of students who walked or wheeled to school were PAC (Christa’s grade) at the Junior School and 6AC (Mrs Bright’s grade) at the Senior School.

Both grades won a Golden Boot that they can display in their classrooms. They will also receive a pizza lunch for their grade later in the term.

We continue to promote the benefits of walking or wheeling to school and encourage children to walk or wheel safely to school every day.

Next Monday the students who qualified to represent Preston PS will be returning to the Coburg Athletics Track to compete in the District Athletic sports. We wish them all the very best and hope they have a successful and enjoyable day.

Preps 2027

We have recently sent out first round offers to the families for whom we are the closest school and the families who already have a child enrolled at Preston to confirm that their Prep child will be attending in 2027.

If you have a child who will be starting school in 2027 and you have not enrolled them, please do so as soon as possible.

Regards,

Janet Paterson,

Principal.
